c u l8ter (this is text speak to show i am down with the kids)

i know i missed last wednesday's blog and i think the wednesday before that as well and here i am writing on a Tuesday. it's all very confusing. Anyway my excuse for last week is that mac had a vomiting virus and was sick for ages and he is still sick now poor little sausage, and we are off to NZ on saturday. And once again I am dragging my heels in the packing department, so anyway i have been very busy and I only have 15 minutes before i wake him up.

So here are some bullet points of the recent family Bennett activities:

  • jamie and I went out to dinner by ourselves for the third time in 10 months. It was awesome and i was only stressed at the beginning of the meal by the end of it I was loving it.

  • Jamie and Mac have identical shaped heads, this really, really freaks me out. From the back they are totally indistinguishable. freaky.

  • We are leaving for NZ on saturday, am not looking forward to the flight or the jetlag.

  • mac has been sick but has been a trouper and hardly complained at all, I have been sick and have hardly complained at all (I've always been a good patient ask my Mum) Jamie has possibly been sick but has definitely been complaining about it.

  • Mackay's sleep has been awesome for ages then suddenly we had a few weeks of 5:00 wake ups which where a killer and then he was waking up all hours of the night and once not going back to sleep for two hours, so I have been very tired. In fact I am still very tired.

  • my skin has almost cleared up and people seem less inclined to cross the street when they see me coming.

  • I am now an official mum as I have bought a one piece to wear on the beach, I am hurtling towards middle age.

thats all, see my nz peeps in a few days. will hopefully update soon with lots of lovely photos from my holiday. also the weather better by good or I will kick some arse.

Also a little shout out to all the people effected by the earthquake in christchurch, sometimes things are a bit too shocking for words I think xxxx

Sorry forgot

For any of you reading this regularly (hello Amber, julia and my dad) you will remember that a few weeks ago I mentioned that I would be leaving the house all by myself, at night to go to a bar. Only the second time in about a year. Well the mission was successful I went to a party (for about 20 minutes) had a drink (non-alcoholic) and then rushed home in a taxi to release the babysitter. All in all a successful but slightly stressful night.

in a few weeks jamie and I are going out together for dinner. Wow. That is if my face has settled down.

colds and infections

It's Wednesday again and time for another blog post. Well we have had a funny few days as Mackay has got sick, a really nasty cold and he couldn't nap very well, but bless him he slept well during the night. His naps are still a bit strange, like today i had to rock him to sleep and on sunday he wouldn't take his morning nap (this has never, ever happened) but we are kind of getting back to normal now.

Also remember how I told you about my skin infection, well it has got really serious and spread all over my face I had to go to the doctors and get some uber strong antibitoics, which when the doctor gave them to me he said, 'well try this and if they don't work we will try something else' Can't you try something else now, rather than make me come back? Load me up with all the options and I'll just self-medicate, thanks very much. Basically I look like my face is peeling away, and this is the sight that greeted Jamie when he came back on Friday, Not very attractive, and Mackay has caught it too. Poor little dude. Although his is not as bad as mine. Anyway the doctor said it is highly infectious so we have been quaritined in our house all week. Boring. I would post pictures but it would make you vomint. no joke.

In 0ther news we are heading back to nz in a few weeks and while we are there we will be going to a friends wedding. I can not tell you how much of a fashion crisis I am having about this wedding. Like I am more concerned with what I am wearing to their wedding than what I wore to my own.

I have boiled it down to the following problems:
1) I am fat. This means all the stuff that used to look good on me now makes me look, no surprise here, fat.
2) I can't be bothered to go and look in shops so am shopping online, this means i have to use my imagination to envisage what the dress will look like on me. And when I do this the dress always ends up looking crap.
3) I have already bought the shoes I want to wear so now have to find a dress to match. I know, it's a schoolboy error.
4) I am fat. Have I said this already, probably but I think it needs repeating.

Anyway all these factors combined mean that three weeks from leaving to nz and I have nothing. It's getting so desperate I considered a lime green shift dress yesterday (lime green terrible colour and a shift dress! could I choose something more unflattering)

I am considering pulling an old faithful out of the wardrobe but I AM TOO FAT TO FIT ANYTHING!

The only silver lining on this cloud is that Jamie has also put on weight. I know this is mean and selfish of me but it does make me feel better that middle age has caught up with him. In saying this he has been the same weight since high school and has only put on about 3 kilos, but still it's a start.
